Google Sound Maps

Google Maps has been at the forefront of mashups, facilitating the creation of many interesting applications over the last few years. One of the more recent ones are sound maps. Essentially you record sounds, tag them to describe them and then show them up next to the location where they were recorded. The most recent addition to such mashups is the Montreal Sound Map.  Using this mashup, you can hear the stream at Queen Mary Street or the traffic at Rue De l’Esplanade. Anyone can upload sounds from Montreal to this map and access them using this application.
